Inlays and Onlays are a long-lasting tooth repair while retaining existing tooth structure. They can be made out of resin, ceramic or gold alloy.
Inlays are customised inserts that fit in the centre of a damaged or decayed tooth. The Inlay fills the gaps, limits further decay, reduces tooth sensitivity and restores the tooth.
An Onlay is bonded to the exterior of a damaged or fractured tooth. They are designed to reconstruct the shape and integrity of the tooth, and provide protection for weaker parts of your tooth, preventing further damage.
Your dentist will take an impression of the tooth to be treated, from which bespoke inserts will be made from dental resin or metal.
Your dentist will use an anaesthetic to numb the area around the tooth. The Inlay or Onlay will be positioned and then bonded into place.
